BIO

I’m Seesha, a San Francisco-based scientist and artist. My work experience encompasses a diverse range of experiences including scientific research and freelance illustration.
I am currently a translational scientist at Genentech. I received my PhD in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at UCSF. For my thesis project, I used an optogenetic tool to study transcriptional regulation in mammalian cells. I have over ten years of research experience ranging from clinical to basic sciences. Through these experiences I have collaborated on several publications including two first author publications, where I developed skills in project management, data visualization and figure generation.
I also work as a freelance illustrator. My past clients include Zocalo, the MLS USMNT, and Combap Mart. Through this work, I collaborated with clients to craft and adapt visuals to their specific needs.
Beyond work, I am passionate about scientific outreach and volunteering. As a former member of the Carry the One Radio team (a science communication podcast) and former volunteer for the Science Education Partnership, I am dedicated to bridging the gap between scientists and the wider community. I was also proud to work on the NSF funded project "Nature's Tiny Marvels" in collaboration with Dr. Sindy Tang at Stanford. Here, I worked as a science media manager, creating scientifically accurate illustrations and engaging web content, with the goal to enhance understanding of complex biological concepts, for 10-18 year olds.
